With a mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.9-liter V-8, the 488GTB generates a sonorous wail and ferocious acceleration all the way to 8000 rpm, where it makes 661 horsepower. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is the sole transmission; we estimate it's capable of a zero-to-60-mph time of 3.0 seconds. Ferrari's adaptive suspension is relatively compliant without sacrificing handling. The Pista model is even more powerful and makes 710 horsepower and should leap to 60 mph in less than three seconds. Fine leather, suede, carbon fiber, and metal accents cover nearly everything inside its racy, driver-focused cabin. The interior is spacious for two adults but don't expect much in the way of infotainment or connectivity. There's no central radio display; most everything is controlled through a digital readout in the gauge cluster via buttons and toggles on the steering wheel, including the 488's various driving modes and the bright red ignition switch.
